I really love my teams! It's wonderful be home. After two weeks of powerful experiential learning in the Kimberley, it's satisfying to return to teams with great attitude, productivity, and respect. I was welcomed home with overwhelming affection by our Lake Moodemere Team. They did a fantastic job while I was away but were still keen to hand the reigns back upon my return. I've already been able to implement a few new tools to assist communication and operation and I've found our crew very willing to oblige.
The Board of the Winemakers of Rutherglen are as visionary as ever! I felt a sense of pride and belonging sitting amongst them mapping out a strong future for Rutherglen wine and all our members. We're so lucky to represent this unique region of environmental beauty and historic resonance.
Equal to all this positivity is my love for my Kimberley team. Together we rode the waves of a rocky ride offering plenty of opportunities to develop both our leadership, and our team, skills. Three weeks ago I didn't know these people. Now, after all we've shared, they are the best of friends, most valued colleagues and as close as anyone can come to family. The Kimberley is a beautiful and wild landscape filled with hidden jewels and hushed majesty. The traditional owners are proud and connected to their country. They generously guide us, unfolding the secrets of an ancient land before us.
Outdoor Initiatives, The Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, and most of all, Wine Australia have provided me with a life changing experience that will significantly affect my future and the paths I choose to take. Whether I am trail blazing, exploring, or consolidating, I know we are stronger standing together than alone. Together we can and will achieve great things.
