The Tastes of Rutherglen Festival has come to close. We had a fantastic weekend with great music, food, wine, visitors, and of course our wonderful staff. It's a busy time with the festival wedged in the midst of vintage, which began on 14th February and will extend in to April.
Our son Joel has been home with us for four of our most hectic weeks. He hardly rested between digging holes, taking grape samples, picking fruit, driving tractors, drenching sheep, serving wine, and so much more! Joel's visit reminds us what we work for, our love of family and the life we have built and share with those most dear to us.
Joel hasn't been the only volunteer during this time. We've had the pleasure of James, who worked solidly from last Wednesday to Sunday, in the vines, with the sheep, and at the cellar door. Pete and Gloria have visited from Canada and saved the day on several occasions, always ready to wait on tables, wash dishes, join in with the picking, and attend to all the little things that seem to need constant attention.
It's true, we do work hard, but we have a wonderful life filled with wonderful people. There's more fruit to be picked and wine to be made, more late nights and early mornings, but we'll be working with a smile, our hearts full with all the love we've received in the last few weeks.
